Mission:
Mystery at Ryloth
Location: USS Oceanus (NCC-79603)
Timeline: Arrived At Ryloth
==== USS Oceanus -- Bridge ====
The USS Oceanus dropped out of warp, the swirling tunnel of subspace folding away into the familiar star-streaked expanse of normal space. Ahead, the blue-green planet of Ryloth loomed, bathed in the light of its sun. The planet's surface, a contrast of lush forests and arid deserts, rotated slowly in the distance, its rings shimmering faintly.
Commander Forest stood at the center of the bridge, his hands clasped behind his back as he studied the planet on the viewscreen. The mission ahead was a delicate one, and every detail had to be executed flawlessly. Forest’s gaze was focused, his mind running through the scenarios they had prepared for in the briefing.
"Helm, bring us into standard orbit," Forest ordered, his voice steady.
"Aye, sir," said Neteri skillfully guiding the Oceanus into orbit around Ryloth. "Orbit achieved Commander Forest", Neteri said.
Once the ship was in position, Forest turned to the operations officer. "Ensign, open a channel to the transporter room and prepare for an away team. I want Lieutenant Connor Hayden, Lieutenant Commander Nicole Perkins, Lieutenant Commander Tazuko Miyahara, and Lieutenant Veya to meet me there immediately."
"Aye, sir," the officer responded, quickly relaying the command over the comm system.
Forest then tapped his combadge, his tone carrying the weight of the mission's importance. "Lieutenant Hayden, Lieutenant Commander Perkins, Lieutenant Commander Miyahara, and Lieutenant Veya, report to Transporter Room 2. We’re preparing for immediate transport to the planet’s surface."
He took a deep breath, knowing that the success of this operation rested on the seamless cooperation of his team. The situation on Ryloth was volatile, and they had little room for error.
Turning back to the viewscreen, Forest allowed himself a brief moment to consider the challenges ahead. The planet was a patchwork of shifting alliances, unpredictable terrain, and hidden threats. But if anyone could navigate the complexities of this mission, it was the crew of the Oceanus.
He left the bridge, his pace quick but measured, making his way to the transporter room where his team would soon assemble. The mission was about to begin, and the stakes had never been higher.
== USS Oceanus - Transporter Room ==
Lieutenant Veya was anticipating that her presence may be requested around now, so she arrived to the transporter room in short order. Her attire was of a modern utilitarian Vulcan design, her fitted brown pants and shirt were topped with a lightweight hooded jacket in a subtle but recognizable pattern that stopped just below her hip. Though controversial, Vulcan-Romulan reunification was at the forefront of political issues in both cultures. Veya had hoped to draw a certain type of attention by embracing her heritage.
Tazuko had also been anticipating her presence to be requested for the away team. As such, when the Captain's orders came down, Tazuko had left security in the care of Stewart and made her way down to transporter room two, giving a silent nod to Commander Patton as she entered and stepped up to the transporter pad.
Connor arrived in the transporter room, his long duster coat looked generic enough and covered the phaser he had hidden under it, he looked around, they were beaming down into the hornet's nest this time, he didn't want to draw attention to himself or the away team, he'd concealed his combadge in a pocket, he hated doing any kind of operation without a fallback plan, he just hoped this wouldn't sideways.
A few minutes later, the Commander arrived in plain civilian clothing - for Rylothian standards - and he adjusted his collar. He had a utility belt on that hid his Starfleet equipment. While it wasn't necessary on a Federation world, they were still undercover. He looked at all those assembled.
"Remember, we're the USS Optimus," he said, reminding them again. "I've ordered us to be transported to the warehouse so we can get things situated. Once we verify it's clear, we'll deploy additional teams. Afterward, we'll start our surveillance objectives in the city. All clear?"
Connor nodded and added, "This isn't exactly a Risa resort, intel kept this warehouse spartan on purpose to avoid it drawing attention, but there are a couple of quality replicators and a cache of weapons, the accommodations are literally cots in the empty offices on the upper level of the building, and to make things fun there's only one shower."
Veya bowed her head slightly in deference. "Understood, Captain."
"Fun," Forest said, frowning at Connors report. He sighed, then looked at the Transport Officer. "Energize."
