Description | The Type 9 shuttlecraft is a short range auxiliary space vessel. Introduced sometime around 2371, it is utilized by Starfleet for use as an embarked craft from starships for away missions and short-range transportation. The USS Oceanus operates three Type 9 Shuttlecraft that are each equipped with a photon torpedo launcher, two Type-IV phaser emitters, deflector shields, and warp drives. The Type 9 Shuttle is specifically designed for away missions and can only haul limited cargo. The front of the Type 9 has seating for up to four individuals with removable seats depending on the mission. The very small rear area has fold-out tables, seating, bed, and storage with a small replicator. It additionally comes equipped with a fold-out toilet, sink, and washroom area. It also includes a single-person transporter. These facilities are extremely small, limited use items and must be serviced after each excursion where they are used.
